Summary

A Lithuanian dairy is looking for partners that would provide lab testing and/or develop a technology for brine (salt solution) used for cheese production clarification by electroporation (killing microorganisms by causing cell membrane damage by applying an electrical field). Two separate partnership agreements can be signed with different partners for lab testing feasibility of the method and prototype development and production under a technical cooperation agreement.

Description

This Lithuanian dairy with over two decades of experience in producing high quality milk products and constantly applying newest technologies for their product quality and preservation improvement is interested in replacing their currently used brine (salt solution) clarification technology with a more efficient technology. Brine is used in the process of cheese production. The company is considering that a brine clarification technology by applying electroporation – applying an electrical field in order to damage the cell membranes of the microorganisms in the solution – might be a promising alternative to existing technologies and is looking for a partner to test feasibility and/or carry out research and development of this electroporation based brine clarification technology for them by technical cooperation.

The research project can be split in two stages:
- Lab testing to inspect the feasibility of the suggested method;
- Development of a prototype and production of the end product.
The company is looking for partners to carry out either of these tasks under a technical cooperation agreement.

Laboratory testing should be carried out by a someone familiar with the electroporation method and that possesses or is able to apply the tools and technology that are used carry out laboratory testing of electroporation method applied to brine used in cheese production that would possibly lead to the development of a more efficient alternative to existing brine clarification technologies.

Requested partner

The role of the partner is to develop a brine clarification technology by applying electroporation for our client with their support. A public or private research institution may be a partner for both lab testing to inspect the feasibility of using electroporation for brine clarification and prototyping/ production of the end product. The partner should be able to reach the objectives independently taking into account the feedback received from the representatives of the company.
