Spanish research organization is looking for anthropomorphic test devices for measuring highly biofidelic injuries values in frontal, side and oblique impacts

Country of Origin: Spain
Reference Number: TRES20181203001
Publication Date: 3 December 2018

Summary

Spanish technology centre specialized in the development of solutions for safety automotive sector, is looking for a provider of passive safety testing products and test equipment. The products requested is a humanlike anthropomorphic test devices (ATD) representing a 50th male percentile and a 10 years old child surrogate both with improved biofidelity and dynamic response against frontal, lateral and oblique impacts. Services and commercial agreement with technical assistance are sought.

Description

International application-oriented research organization specialized in the development of solutions for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and suppliers (TIER) for active, passive and preventive safety is looking for two different anthropomorphic test device:
First one for measuring highly biofidelic injuries values in frontal oblique impacts with accurate reproduction of both rib cage and abdominal traumas of a 50th percentile surrogate.
And the second one for measuring highly biofidelic injuries values in frontal, side and oblique impacts with accurate reproduction of head, neck, rib cage and abdominal traumas of a 10 years old child surrogate.
This non-profit organization is registered and recognized as technology centre (RTD), whose activities are developed in the field of the transport and energy sector; and has its own structure, facilities and technical and auxiliary staff. The RTD´s headquarters is placed in Spain and it also has duty and permanent stations in Germany and Mexico.

This research organization applies research and development for companies (OEM and TIER) in the transport sector carrying out each and every stage of product development from the conception of a new idea, selection and analysis of materials, simulation activities, processing, prototype product and tooling design and manufacturing and pre-industrialization tasks, including the final validation of the product. By means of this working methodology, the centre generates the necessary knowledge and manages its transference to the customers, so they can achieve their own goals and a greater competitiveness in the market. More specifically, this RTD applies concurrent engineering techniques, including industrial processes, and are capable of arriving at the full industrialisation of the solution for integral safety.

The technologies requested are a humanlike anthropomorphic test devices (ATD):
1. One of the two representing a 50th male percentile surrogate with improved biofidelity and dynamic response against frontal and oblique impacts and,
2. The second is a anthropomorphic test devices that representing a 10 years old child surrogate with improved biofidelity and dynamic response against frontal, lateral and oblique impacts.

Both Anthropomorphic test devices should incorporate a detailed reproduction of human rig cage and soft abdominal tissues with specific instrumentation relevant to head, neck, thorax abdomen and pelvis injury assessment. These Anthropomorphic test devices will be intended to be used for the evaluation of effectiveness of different innovative types of restraint systems for automotive, railway and aerospace industries.

The centre desires an initial purchase of described equipment for internal investigation purposes and desires to stablish collaboration with experienced suppliers in further developments of improvement and modifications of ATD’s behaviour.

Under services or commercial agreement with technical assistance the centre looks for:

•Anthropomorphic test device manufacturers suppliers
•Anthropomorphic test device design and development suppliers
•Suppliers of onboard data acquisition systems for crash tests.
•Suppliers of load cells, accelerometers and non-contact displacement sensors.
•Suppliers of anthropomorphic test device certification laboratories.

The supplier must be highly specialized in this kind of test devices with capacity for manufacturing and design and expertise in the associated certification of anthropomorphic test device for their use in international regulated and non-regulated tests.

Expertise sought

The products requested are instrumented anthropomorphic test devices 50th percentile adult male and 10 years old child. The instrumentation should be enough to assess the mail injury criteria and/or risks:
• Head: head injury Criteria (HIC) and Brain Injury Criteria (BRIC)
• Neck: Neck Injury Criteria (NIC)
• Thorax: Viscous Criteria (VC) and Ribs intrusions
• Abdomen: Abdominal loads
• Pelvis: Pelvis loads

Certification tools for dummy parts certification should be also included according to SAE - Society of Automotive Engineers requirements.
The devices must also content load cells, accelerometers and non-contact displacement sensors under "SAE J211” and “ISO 6487” requirements.
The minimum channels will be provided to the organization interested in this profile.
