NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association) Multiplexer hardware manufacturers with satellite connection incorporated for maritime solutions.

Country of Origin: Spain
Reference Number: TRES20170706001
Publication Date: 6 July 2017

Summary

Spanish sensor network technologies specialised company is requesting an NMEA multiplexer technology which storages data from sensors and is able to communicate with a satellite, in order to integrate within a maritime fleet intelligence platform that collects and analyses with big data technologies the sensor data generated by ships. The data will be obtained on a real-time basis. The company is interested in technical cooperation agreements.

Description

Spanish technological SME which is working in partnership with Germany and Switzerland companies has developed a maritime fleet intelligence platform that collects sensor data generated by ships at the sea and transmits them to a secure data storage several times a day. A web service enables a remote view of the current status of each ship.

The whole set of sensor data is analysed with big data technologies to reduce fleet operating costs by predictive maintenance, superior weather forecast and advanced utilisation estimation and is presented in easily accessible reports once a day. The combination of real-time sensor data enriched with external sources and big data analytics creates unique services to meet the demand of today's nautical requirements.

The company is looking for an established NMEA multiplexer manufacturer interested in being involved in a new project. It should offer high reliability and adaptable features. The multiplexer should be able to collect sensor data through NMEA 2000 in real time and buffer the data until ready to be sent by an incorporated global SIM or satellite.

The selected cooperation type is technical cooperation agreement, in order to further developing the platform integrating the specific multiplexer. The company is looking for a partner possessing the technological expertise and the ability to help them further.

Expertise sought

The partner expertise should be in ship automation tracking hardware, a hardware manufacturer to support the company platform instead of developing its own, that would be interested in participating in the project. Their base technology should be NMEA Multiplexer hardware with Global SIM/satellite communication incorporated, in order to use the technology to generate new applications for maritime solutions, more concretely for maritime fleet management solutions.

The hardware would be part of the system, to store sensor data and send when transmission conditions are favourable. Just to further understand the project, following the process that the global platform is following:
1) Existing sensors (engine, GPS, wind, battery, etc.) and additional (mast & hull stress, list, valves, doors, water, smoke, etc.) collect the data of the ship.
2) Sensor data is stored until transmission. It is also possible to send commands to the ship.
3) A secure cloud data storage gathers all data ever sent and receives additional external data.
4) Big data analytics. The platform processes historical and recent data for better insights, and it also uses external data for advanced predictions.
5) The data is displayed as well as the results of the big data analysis.
