A new kind of weeding tool for the garden

Country of Origin: United Kingdom
Reference Number: TOUK20180802001
Publication Date: 2 August 2018

Summary

A UK inventor has successfully prototyped and tested a weeding tool that removes weeds cleanly, without leaving a hole or disturbing adjacent plants.
Manufacturers of gardening tools are sought for licensing deals, to launch it Europe-wide.

Description

Gardeners often find it very frustrating to be unable to remove new dandelions or any lawn weeds without making a big hole in the lawn.

A UK inventor set out to test designs to remove weeds from lawns and flower beds without damaging the lawn or nearby plants.

The final design can be used by anyone. The simplicity of the tool is that the weeds are removed easily by the roots with a simple twist of the hand. The invention can be a hand tool or can come as a long handled tool which makes it effortless to remove the weed without bending or kneeling.

The prototype has demonstrated after extensive use that the weed is removed cleanly and once the grass is replaced it is impossible to see where the weed has been removed from. In flower beds weeds are removed efficiently without disturbing or destroying neighbouring plants.
The inventor wishes to license out the design to suitable manufacturers of gardening tools.

Advantages and Innovations

The tool has serrated edges that catch the weed by the roots and remove it in one piece.

Uniquely it has a serrated tongue in the centre of the tool which improves its effectiveness. No damage is caused to the lawn or neighbouring plants when a weed is removed.
Other advantages are that gardening can be done with fewer chemicals.
