Country of Origin: Serbia
Reference Number: TORS20170906001
Publication Date: 6 September 2017

Summary

Serbian research organisation has built an advanced software platform for customized modelling and simulation of biped robot mechanisms (humanoid robots). It presents engineering toolbox designed for simulation of biped robot and human kinematics and dynamics for arbitrary chosen set of parameters. The advantage is that customer is free to define their own robot parameters by a simple editing a data-file. The company is interested in technical cooperation agreement and manufacturing agreement.

Description

The research organisation has developed humanoid robots simulation platform. It is a research software platform for the customized modelling and simulation of biped robot mechanisms (humanoid robots). It represents a complex engineering toolbox designed for simulation of biped robot and human kinematics and dynamics for arbitrary chosen (imposed) set of mechanism/body parameters. Humanoid robots simulation platform provides a possibility to simulate a biped system behaviour for various control laws (at the servo level as well as cognitive high-level) including different feedback loops (position, speed, dynamic reactions, joint payloads, zero moment point relative position, etc.). Humanoid robots simulation platform runs at a PC computer under Windows XP operating system. This platform is also suitable as an educational, or training and science demonstration tool. Technology was laboratory tested and available for demonstration. The potential areas of platform application are education in robotics, cybernetics, biomechanics, and robotic industry.
The research in area of cognitive robotics is concerned with endowing robots with mammalian and human-like cognitive capabilities to enable the achievement of complex goals in complex environments.. Robotic cognitive capabilities include perception based on sensor fusion, processing, attention allocation, anticipation, simultaneous localization and mapping, motion planning, space and context reasoning, autonomous navigation, learning , decision making and human-robot interaction.
This research organisation is one of most successful scientific excellence centres in Serbia. Also, this organisation is the oldest robotics laboratory in South-East Europe and one of world pioneers of research in humanoid robotics. Long tradition and experience, acquiring of contemporary world achievements in this attractive scientific discipline, broad knowledge of other technical disciplines, scientific creativity and intuition, combination of experience and youth are milestones of this laboratory. The working activity focus is oriented to scientific research in different areas of robotics and mechatronics, together with commercial engineering projects that considers design, reconstruction and adaptation of new and existing robotic and mechatronics systems.
This organisation is the home of the ziro-moment point concept. The first model of a multifunctional externally powered hand prosthesis was developed here in 1964.
This company is interested in finding partners for technical cooperation in order to design and development this research software platform. It is also interesting in finding partners for manufacturing agreement in order to enable further manufacturing.

Advantages and Innovations

The biggest advantage is that the customer is free to define their own robot parameters by a simple editing of data-file. The module enables modelling of different real scenarios including obstacle avoidance and collision avoidance. This scalable procedure of identification of human-body parameters was designed and based on experimental background in capture motion studio.

Stage Of Development

Available for demonstration

Requested partner

The research organisation is willing to find a partners, the company or R&D institution, interested in further technical development and adaptation of research software platform to specific needs through technical cooperation agreement. The role of potential partner in technical cooperation agreement would be participation in design and development of research software platform including its implementation, testing on site and putting into operation.
The research organisation is also interested in finding potential partner from for manufacturing agreement: manufacturer and distributor of educational tools and equipment in robotics, cybernetics, bio mechanics. The role of the potential partner for manufacturing agreement should be adjustment of this laboratory tested technology for commercial application, which will enable further manufacturing.
