Summary

A Portuguese specialized research group which is dedicated to acoustics and vibrations in buildings is offering its two reverberation rooms and its equipment for real time data acquisition; recording and data management; addressing noise and vibration studies, as well as to the development of new noise protection systems and materials. 

It is open to establish a research and/ or technical cooperation agreement.

Description

A  Portuguese research group, established in 1946, is part of an institution that undertakes, research and technological development (R&D) in areas related to civil engineering. 



This group is specialized in the characterization of the acoustic performance (absorption and sound insulation) of solutions and systems used in building construction, in particular:

• Partitions walls, façade elements, glazing, doors, small technical elements, acoustic linings, shutters, floor and floor coverings;

• Noise barriers;

• Building materials and sound absorbing systems.



In addition to these characterization studies, this group also develops activities in different areas, such as: research studies in the field of buildings acoustics and vibration in buildings, environmental acoustics, and human perception to noise and vibration in buildings.



They are offering their two reverberation rooms and their equipment for real time data acquisition, recording and data management, addressing noise and vibration studies, as well as the development of new noise protection systems and materials. 



They are searching for partners wishing to participate in a technology transfer process. For that purpose, their facilities are available to share with companies that may build on their expertise and scientific findings to develop new products and services.  



The research group is open to cooperate with R&D Institution, Universities, or SME, via the following types of agreements: research cooperation and/ or technical cooperation.

The group developed several studies offering expert advisory and support to the acoustic design for new construction solutions, conservation and rehabilitation of buildings.



They are able and willing to share research knowledge that has also been developed in the fields of environmental noise, acoustics materials for buildings, and noise perception.



Besides the development of new noise protection systems and materials, the group also has an impedance tube for measuring the acoustical properties of noise control materials (small samples), which are fundamental for the development of  innovative absorption system solutions and devices.
