Technology of microcapsules for immobilisation of active substances is offered

Country of Origin: Poland
Reference Number: TOPL20160829001
Publication Date: 29 August 2016

Summary

A group of scientists from West Poland has developed a micro-encapsulation method that may be implemented in pharmaceutics as well as in the food industry. Microcapsules immobilise active substances, can mask their flavour or smell, and shield them from external factors. Cooperation in a form of commercial agreement with technical assistance and licence agreement is offered.

Description

A research team from university in North West Poland specialising in immobilisation and packaging methods has developed a technology of micro-encapsulation.

The offered solution enables immobilisation of various active substances such as biologically-active enzymes, living cells etc. Other type of substances that can be immobilised using the technology are functional food additives. Micro-encapsulation process allows to mask flavour and odour of active substances, to protect them from undesirable effects of an environment, and to release them in a given dose, in reaction to a specific stimulus (conditions/settings). Thus, manufacturers can improve their products by adding immobilised active substance without changing any other of their properties (smell, taste, colour, etc.).

The offered micro-encapsulation technology combines well-established industrial processes with innovative solutions for creating capsules. In the processes of microcapsules production and immobilisation only natural substances are used, so that the technology can be safely implemented in food and pharmaceutical industries as well as in medicine and other branches. Utilisation of various physicochemical methods enables production of microcapsules with specific, desired by a partner properties and making adjustments to his individual needs and requirements.

Scientists are interested in establishing cooperation in a form of commercial agreement with technical cooperation or license agreement.

Advantages and Innovations

- substances used in capsules production are natural and allowed to contact with food or pharmaceuticals;
- possibility to adjust technology (properties and behaviour of produced microcapsules) to specific requirements of a given branch or partner;
- technology combines well-known technologies, such as spray drying, with innovative methods, i.a. electrostatic method, electro vibration.
