Lithuanian SME offers automatization technology for electrical energy distribution grid

Country of Origin: Lithuania
Reference Number: TOLT20210211001
Publication Date: 24 February 2021

Summary

A Lithuanian SME offers remote monitoring and control technology for energy grid digitalization. The technology is particularly suitable for automation projects in Low and Medium Voltage networks. The devices hold key advantage due to their compact size, cybersecurity level, versatility in offered functions and supported protocols. The manufacturer is looking for existing automation projects or to start partnerships globally in commercial agreement with technical assistance or license agreement.

Description

Lithuanian SME is a spin-off of a large and long-lasting electrical engineering company. The SME is a manufacturer of automation hardware and software that is specifically designed for energy and manufacturing industry sectors.

Manufacturer offers a remote monitoring and remote control technology that is applicable in electrical energy objects and in factories. The technology consists of hardware: remote terminal unit (RTU) devices, data loggers and input/output modules; and a cloud platform which allows for real-time monitoring and control of the objects. The hardware combines multiple functions: RTUs operate as data loggers, distributed programmable logic controller (PLC) devices, a switch, and a router. Devices further incorporate strategic cybersecurity features and functions for network redundancy. Devices support all key energy protocols (IEC101/103/104, IEC61850, DNP3, Modbus, and others).

The technology is ideal for applications in secondary - low and medium voltage - substations. Potential targeted projects - to automate secondary transformer substations, ring main units (RMUs), reclosers, outdoor load break switches (LBS) with remote control, sectionalizers or projects with metering data. The technology is also applicable in renewables power plants for monitoring and control, and also in factories for efficient electrical energy consumption.

The products already have established markets in European Union, Middle East and South East Asia.
The manufacturer is looking for partners in projects and tenders by distribution network operators, or to upgrade already established projects with the technology. Manufacturer is offering commercial agreement with technical assistance or license agreement.

Advantages and Innovations

The technology offers several functions all-in-one: it integrates data-logging, RTU, cybersecurity pack, router functions, VPN and mobile connectivity within the same device.
The devices are modular, so product sets can be specifically adjusted for every project.
No additional license payments, or payments per data points are included.
The technology readily offers access to all supported protocols and features.
Devices and modules are small in size and therefore the product is ideal both for new installations, and for retrofit projects.
The technology is scalable which allows for integration of many objects in the monitoring system.
The technology is compatible with most third-party hardware and software that is found on substations and power plants.

Stage Of Development Comment

The technology has been fully developed, field-tested and operating in energy markets. Nevertheless, manufacturer is constantly working to improve the technology, and ensure it supports all key functionalities for energy-specific projects.

Requested partner

Partners from industry are sought: system integrators, distributors, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors, operation & maintenance (O&M) companies, renewable power plant companies.
Partners should have know-how of the energy markets in their area, have engineering resources or easy access to them, and/or have experience working for energy projects for distribution network operators.
