Electric-jet micro-Propulsion System for Nanosats

Country of Origin: Lithuania
Reference Number: TOLT20180814001
Publication Date: 5 November 2018

Summary

The company positioning itself in the market of small thrusters and space propulsion systems, has developed an innovative micro-motor, which uses the technology of High Frequency Heating (HFH) of the working fluid to the plasma state and release it into outer space with great speed allowing the spacecraft to circle orbit around the Earth for as long as it needs to. Company is looking for partners to work under the joint venture or research cooperation agreement.

Description

Lithuanian technology development company, successfully operating in the field have developed a high frequency heating technology for fluid. Company specialists specialists have extensive experience in designing, manufacturing and launching a large number of space objects more than 30 years.

Propulsion system (PS) operating by modern fuels - inertial gases and halogens, which do not require storage under pressure, using a new technological approach for the technology of local sufficient gas generating using high frequency method of ionization of the gas to get high speed jet thrust.

Currently company is looking for partners to work under the joint venture or research cooperation agreement to develop technology.

Advantages and Innovations

The developed technology and device for its implementation are able to meet the mass demand for this type of rocket motors and identify and put this development in a range of key development needs of the segment of small spacecraft with a very required innovation systems that are radically economical and require minimal energy to convert the energy of the working fluid at jet impulse. The motor, which the company sees as intended for serial production is a plasma unit working on advanced technology for efficient heating of the gas in vacuum by microwave method and then release the ionized gas into outer space by the electromagnetic field that entails the creation of jet thrust in vacuum and allows a SC to develop or to support the required orbital velocity not slow down in orbit and not burn in the dense layers of the Earth atmosphere.

Stage Of Development

Prototype available for demonstration

Stage Of Development Comment

Hall-effect microPropulsion: developed, made and are operated in Earth orbit with thrust 5mN. Hall-effect Propulsion System: developed and manufactured motor with thrust 85mN for the use in
satellites for operation in GEO-orbits. Propulsion System for the rocket use: innovative development of chemical rocket motor with thrust up 3,000N.

Requested partner

Under the research cooperation agreement the partner would be a Laboratory carrying out manufacturing and conducting of the testing complex with Propulsion System with further delivery to the market of commercial propulsion systems for satellites.

The joint venture agreement would see a laboratory being build and run by both parties, however it would be expected that significant degree of the skills, knowledge and resources required will come from the partner.
