A Korean University has developed a mechanical insert for catch basin sumps. It's a simple and efficient way to prohibit the development of mosquito larvae. Description

The catch basin sump is one major habitat for mosquito larvae, especially in urban areas. The SME developed the device for mosquito control specifically for the catch basin sump. It disrupted the growth of mosquito larvae and pupae and was prevent the spawn of mosquitoes. It consists of a housing, floating materials, and mesh nets. The housing is a little smaller than the catch basin sump, and it contains numerous floating materials, of which the key component for mosquito control. The small ball or pyramid-shaped floating materials inhibit mosquito enclosures and spawning by significantly decreasing the surface area of the water, which is essential for the mosquito life cycle. 

It can be applied to products/application listed below:
• Catchment basin where all sort of fluid gathers and creates a good condition for pest such as mosquito to spawn
• The size of the device can be adjusted according to the area of an applicant can be built inner and outer part of a building

Under the license agreement and commercial agreement, this technology could be licensed to with products incorporating features that result in minimizing occurring of mosquitoes emergence and spawning.

Most mosquito control methods were focused on the mosquito adults and it was not effective and need a lot of costs.
