Summary

A Korean SME has developed the Industrial IoT Server and related technology that can be interconnected with various industrial IT for the first time in Korea. At the same time, this technology and its product can be applied to the industry for realization of Smart Factory and CPS (Cyber Physical Systems). This company hopes to cooperate with potential partners in the form of technical cooperation agreement, license agreement, service agreement and commercial agreement with technical assistance.

Description

Recently, the Smart factory technology for industrial automation is rapidly spreading as part of information industry and 5th Industrial Revolution. In order to build this, the IIoT(the Industrial Internet of Things) Technology is essential. Based on this industrial background, a Korean SME developed IIoT Server using OPC UA (Open Platform Communication Unified Architecture) standard that is applicable for a wide range of industrial and institutional specification for the first time in Korea. 

Established in 2010, this company has strengths in controlling large-scale plants such as cogeneration plants and shipyards. It has developed IIoT server using OPC UA, an international standard for smart factory and smart grid and is providing the technology to Korean governmental buildings, universities and companies (more than 100 in total).

The technologies developed by the company are PLCOpen(Programmable Logic controller Open), BACnet Interest Group(Building Automation and Control Interest Group), FDI(Field Device Integration) Cooperation, EDDL(Electronic Device Description Language) and FDT(Formal Description Technique), MESA(Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association), OMAC(Organization for Machine Automation and Control), Mimosa, ISA95, ISA-88, MTConnect(Manufacturing Technology Connectivity), Smart Grid, ODVA(Open DeviceNet Vendor’s Association) and MDIS(MCS-DCS Interface Standardization), all of which can be linked to device of various industrial standard.

It can be easily applied to a private protocol because it is lightweight and can be connected to a large capacity device. In addition, it provides multiple control functions of equipment and devices using PLC(Programmable Logic Controller), DCS(Distributed Control System), etc., enabling easy control from small to large sites, and their product can simultaneously provide physical security capabilities such as CCTV control.

Also, using the technology, it is easy to manage and use data using Big Data.
The advantages of this technology and product are based on strong data and web GUI(Graphical User Interface), and it provides lightweight and detailed control with GUI-based dashboard and 2D/3D map with intuitive configuration using its own lightweight 3D Engine.

Easy modelling of each node (Tag) is available, and this can be used conveniently on the web if needed.
Also, this technology can connect and use data with deep learning or AI (Artificial Intelligence) composed of commercial or open source.

Besides, each facilities and system is possible to integrate in vertical/horizontal method since it can easily use the CPS as essential factors.
Based on this, it can provide intellectual service according to various process and real-time monitoring of clients.

The company is looking for partners from all types of field (Smart factory, smart farm, smart grid, and physical/fused security) that require the use of IIoT server in 4th Industrial Revolution. This technology is applicable to both small and large sites, so the exact size of one’s company does not matter. The company is currently considering technical cooperation agreement, license agreement, services agreement and commercial agreement with technical assistance. If partner company has machine learning, deep learning, or AI technology, bigger synergy effect is expected, but it is not mandatory.
