Description

A Croatian company, specialized in programming, development of technical solutions for various fields of electrical engineering, microcontroller development, designing and commissioning of industrial automation systems, is offering its innovative portable arc welding monitor system. 



Arc welding monitor system is used to monitor the work of arc welding machine during performance. This is very important feature when the quality of weld seam has to be very high, without any defects or errors, for example in nuclear power plants, underwater pipelines etc. 



Weld seam quality control is usually performed by x-ray or ultrasonic device after the welding is finished. The problem with this technique is that the work is already done and subsequent reparations can be very costly and not easy to perform and some disturbances in the welding machine work during performance cannot be detected by mentioned techniques. Welding monitor system detects problems during work execution which enables timely response, reduces costs and improves safety.



The welding monitor system developed by company is used for recording welding measurements (currents and voltages), real time printing and analysing data offline. It consists of three components:

•	Portable measurement unit – which can measure up to four welding points (independent arcs) simultaneously 

•	Printing unit – four battery operated 57 mm dot matrix printer in a Peli case for printing welding results

•	Application for Windows - application for printout configuration (projects, welders, procedures, channel names, jobs, welding numbers, electrodes, welding methods and directions), downloading recorded data, archiving and analysing stored welding records



It has three operation modes:

1.	normal mode: monitoring four welding torches with common ground potential

2.	differential mode: monitoring two welding torches with isolated (or weakly coupled) grounds

3.	pulse monitoring: statistical evaluation of one welding torch working in pulse welding



So far, this innovative welding monitor system was successfully implemented within operational system of a client who performs drilling services and construction and installation of pipelines. It was used as a cost-effective solution for analysing welding procedures and improving them. 



The company would like to expand its business and is looking for partners who are connected to the welding industry and need welding quality control and analysis. They are offering an installment of their innovative device and assistance on how to use it, analyse data etc. The company can also customize the graphical user interface to clients needs. The cooperation is envisaged through a license agreement.

Advantages and Innovations

The welding monitor system developed by the company is a portable, handheld welding measurement unit capable of measuring up to 4 single ended input voltages (common welding ground) and 4 welding currents simultaneously. It is designed to provide an easy setup solution for welding measurements, recording and printing. 



Each unit is equipped with a rechargeable battery pack (10 hours of autonomy with supplied batteries), 8 MB of internal flash memory (sufficient for storing 16 hours of measurements at 1s resolution, expandable to up to 32 GB), and several options for instant measurement printing, as well as PC download and analysis.



In comparison to other similar devices on market, this one is much smaller, less expensive and more user friendly.
