French DeepTech company offering an AI solution to support cities' climate neutral action plan and assess environment pollution's impact on population is looking for research and cooperation agreement with entities applying to European Green Deal calls

Country of Origin: France

Publication Date: 9 November 2020

Summary

A French DeepTech company specialized in AI solution (SaaS and mobile application) for monitoring, modelling, assessing environmental pollution and predict cities action's impacts on citizens and environment. The SME has a previous experience in working with cities and engaging citizens to change their behaviors. They aim to collaborate as a partner in a consortium applying to green deal calls LC-GD-1-2-2020, LC-GD-8-1-2020 or LC-GD-8-2-2020, under research and cooperation agreement.

Description

The company has been labeled DeepTech in 2019 and grown constantly with a team composed of IT, biotech, bio-informatic and electronic engineers and a data scientist.
Company offers a service composed of a SaaS (piloted by client such as cities) and a mobile application (used by client's members such as citizens). Company has also developed environmental sensors (CO2, Particulate Matter - PM, Volatile Organic Compounds - VOC…) deployed outside in cities or indoor to assess accurately environment pollution.
SaaS allows cities to visualize and work on results of modelling and data in order to set indicators enabling the assessment of the climate, environmental and socio-economic impact of cities' climate neutral action plan. The solution provides a tool (modelling/AI methods included in SaaS) to detect and identify specific pollution problems and their sources.
Visualization can be seen on a city map and other diagrams. Populations/pollutants' sources/neighborhoods' clusters can be modelled with explainable AI methods to identify some trends (in function of an action or not).
AI algorithms also enable to test some actions' scenarii and predict their impact on environment.
Mobile application allows to engage people with dynamic challenges, communication, news about environment and climate. It also allows citizens to express themselves about their feelings, their behaviors, their engagement…
Results of assessment are available in real time on the mobile application.
Thanks to mobile application, subjective data (feelings and well-being of citizens about their environment) are collected and challenged with objective data (modelling, set of indicators) to ensure citizens engagement in a virtuous circle for their environment.
Sensors connected with mobile application and/or SaaS allow to obtain more specific data about outdoor pollution in cities or indoor pollution in building.
The French DeepTech SME core expertise is environmental pollution assesment and engaging people to act for their environment and health. They already work with cities to detect pollutants sources and assess the impact of some actions (building bikes paths, decreasing vehicles traffic…) on environment and people.
The company is aggregating and developing models for 130 pollutants from 7 different categories: air, water, UV, noise, pollen, food and waves. The solution has data in 83 countries. SaaS and application are available in English and French. The SME wants to engage people for their environment and health with gamification processes but also with more than 600 personalized tips, more than 100 challenges and solutions and many contents about environment and health.
They are interested to be associated in a consortium as partner under a research cooperation agreement for at least one of these calls specific Green Deal calls :
LC-GD-1-2-2020: Towards Climate-Neutral and Socially Innovative Cities
LC-GD-8-1-2020: Innovative, systemic zero-pollution solutions to protect health, environment and natural resources from persistent and mobile chemicals
LC-GD-8-2-2020: Fostering regulatory science to address combined exposures to industrial chemicals and pharmaceuticals: from science to evidence-based policies

Deadline for expression of interest is : 31 december 2020
Calls deadlines : 26 january 2021

Advantages and Innovations

The French company can provide to the consortium:
• Research and development capabilities
• AI methods to assess pollution's sources and their impact
• Pollutants' modelling and data in Europe and even worldwide (83 countries)
• AI methods to predict the impact of action scenarii on the environment
• AI methods to assess the impact of new actions taken by cities
• Mobile application with gamification processes to engage citizens
• SaaS connected to the mobile application to support cities in their actions, communication and citizens engagement
• Help identifying and possibly overcoming public acceptance and other barriers preventing progress and coordinated pathways towards climate neutrality
• Citizens engagement expertise: help cities with questionnaires content to engage people and challenge them to change their behaviors
• Environmental sensors to obtain accurate data about pollution
