Summary
The Spanish SME was founded in 2007 and provides services in energy consultancy, energy management, industrial construction, hydraulic works and holistic solutions to increase energy efficiency, harvest renewable resources, reduce impact on environment and boost competitiveness of its clients. This SME has developed a technology to optimise energy consumption. It is offered to take part of a consortium under Horizon Europe calls. The SME has participated in several European projects.
Description
This SME is focused on the fields of energy and environment. The SME has a wide experience in the implementation of technologies for the generation and management of electrical energy using renewable sources. Furthermore, the SME has a strong knowledge in energy management aimed at reducing consumption and achieving energy savings and is specialized in technologies based in Demand Side Management through machine learning, big data and business intelligence.
Aligned with the energy saving goal, the SME has developed a technology that makes possible to optimise the energy consumption of any type of plant or industrial installation based on the concept of energy flexibility. To do so, it uses artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, data capture from the plant or facility itself (consumption, specific boundary conditions, time and/or process restrictions, equipment, etc.) and data from other sources that determine the convenience of redefine the schedule of the processes of the plant such as the electricity pool price.
It also has experience in the implementation of smart solutions and digitization and the development of Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) business models.
The SME has extensive experience in the participation in Horizon 2020 projects with roles related to energy efficiency and flexibility, demand response, smart solutions, digitization and generation and management of energy using renewable sources. The SME is interested in joining a consortium in the GREEN DEAL call LC-GD-6-1-2020 “Testing and demonstrating systemic innovations in support of the Farm-to-Fork Strategy” - SUBTOPIC B “Achieving climate neutral food businesses by mitigating climate change, reducing energy use and increasing energy efficiency in processing, distribution, conservation and preparation of food” (IA).
The SME currently participates in 7 projects under Horizon 2020 programme projects and 2 under Life programme, in addition to other R&D&I projects founded at national and regional level. Furthermore, The SME has been awarded as an Innovative SME by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness of the Spanish Government thanks to its high participation in international R&D programmes.
Advantages and Innovations
The developed technology allows direct negotiation with energy providers for the implementation of flexibility measures through the exchange of information for the creation of flexibility models according to the specific needs of each client. The innovative factor of the technology is the selection of appropriate control strategies, since it allows to know these solutions in real time and thus have as much information as possible to choose the optimal solution that reduces energy costs to the maximum. This is achieved by shifting demand loads and offering flexibility services in different applications or areas with electricity consumption.
The main innovative element of the technology consists of a platform that allows the optimization of the energy consumption of any type of plant or installation based on the concept of energy flexibility.
There are other software tools of energy management on the market with particular characteristics for the needs of each sector or plant, however, this new technology provides several unique characteristics that go one step further:
• It offers the possibility of minimizing global energy consumption to industrial groups and large companies through artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms.
• It captures and processes data from the plant or installation: consumption, specific boundary conditions, time and/or process restrictions, equipment, etc.
• It takes into account variables present in the equation for consumption calculations.
• It has advanced simulation capabilities.
• It allows to generate reports in real time about critical aspects of the plants.
• It allows to model any type of factory or industrial process graphically.
