A Spanish start-up company is looking for companies in the O&M (Operations and Maintenance) photovoltaic sector in order to test its innovative inspection software

Country of Origin: Spain
Reference Number: TOES20180209001
Publication Date: 9 February 2018

Summary

A Spanish start-up has developed a solution that accelerates the inspection process of big infrastructures such as photovoltaic plants. It uses AI(Artificial Intelligence) to analyse the thermal images taken by drones to automate the detection of hotspots and improves the management and visualization of key information regarding the O&M(Operations and Maintenance) process. The company is looking for partners in order to perform tests in real environment under a technical cooperation agreement.

Description

Nowadays, the use of drones to perform an increasing number of tasks has become common in different sectors. Among other uses, drones carry out the inspection of big infrastructures (photovoltaic fields, power lines or roads, etc.) by taking images that are analysed in order to detect problems or failures. Nevertheless, even though the data collection process is fast, the data analysis (thousands of photos are taken) has to be carried out by technicians, taking a lot of time and resources due to the lack of a tool that automatizes this process.

In this context, the Spanish start-up was born in 2017 with the objective of addressing this need. The company has developed an innovative solution that uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) to perform an automatic and fast analysis of the thousands of photos taken.

The company is currently starting a testing phase with photovoltaic plants in order to validate the technology. The objective is to automatically detect and geo-locate hotspots, and ease the management and visualization of the information generated during the inspection of this type of assets.

Because of that, the company is looking for O&M (Operations and Maintenance) companies of infrastructures such as photovoltaic plants willing to cooperate in order to validate the technology under a technical cooperation agreement.

Other possible partners working in the field of inspection of big infrastructures such as power lines or roads, etc. will also be considered.

The expected outcome is the validation of the developed technology and concurrently helping the partner sought to perform an efficient O&M (Operations and Maintenance) process.

Advantages and Innovations

The technology provides high efficiency in the analysis of the photos taken by drones in order to perform the O&M (Operations and Maintenance) process of big infrastructures. Therefore, it automatizes a process that usually takes a lot of resources.

Stage Of Development
