Reference Number: TOES20171122001
Publication Date: 22 November 2017

Summary

Spanish technology centre is offering it 3D building scanning service to companies interested in developing new methods on the construction sector, especially to prevent problems on buildings (historic buildings included) before they will appear.

Partnerships sought are services agreement for companies working on construction, rehabilitation, and study centres, or research cooperation agreement with any type of entity are sought.

Description

Spanish horizontally integrated technology centre is specialized in offer global solutions to companies. It provides them, since 1994, developments, processes, systems and products. It operates in five economic sectors: industry, energy and environment, construction and infrastructure, agrofood, health and quality of life.

Rehabilitation and protection of buildings is an issue that has always been taken into account. It is not a secret that the tourism is one of the main sectors in Europe, especially in Spain. As one of the main reasons of tourist to go to one city is to visit the emblematic buildings. Then, those buildings must be, at any time, “ready to be watched”.

Spanish technology centre has broad experience in optimising processes and techniques to rehabilitate buildings (mainly historical), especially the envelopes. Besides, it has developed a concrete way of monitoring the current state of the art of emblematic buildings by using laser-scanning methods.

The technology centre offers its methodologies and know-how to companies of the sector interested in:
- Implement preventing actions before a problem may occur on their focused historical buildings.
- Invest on monitoring activities for historic buildings protection
- Analysing main issues that damage the historical buildings (including envelopes).
- Invest on alternative methods that may differ from the current ones.

Partners sought:
- For services agreement: companies, especially construction and rehabilitation industries and dissemination and study centres.
- The technology centre is also interested in research cooperation agreement with entities (companies, universities or research and technology centres) interested in developing a project in areas in relation with cultural heritage in Horizon2020.

Advantages and Innovations

Any building (especially, historical buildings), need a regular care to prevent any damage on their structure, particularly on envelopes. Until present, the “health” of the buildings have been tackled using traditional techniques but another step has been done with the inclusion of 3D laser scanning.

Using technology centre methods and tools helps to prevent potential damages caused by, among others, humidity, local climate or the human deterioration on the buildings before they could occur.

Technology centre’s 3D laser scanning method is offering the following services:
- Internal and external scanning of the building
- Study of the state of the art of the building
- Characterization of the envelope of the building
- Data collection
