LED driver remote-controlled (all-in-one) for street lighting

Country of Origin: Spain
Reference Number: TOES20160301001
Publication Date: 2 March 2016

Summary

A Spanish SME, active in the area of lighting monitoring, has developed an innovative LED driver remote-controlled for street lighting. Unification of LED & driver in a unique box makes it a worldwide innovation. It can monitor and control luminaries in a remote and autonomous way to improve energy efficiency and consumption. It integrates wireless communication technologies. Commercial Agreements with technical assistance are sought with luminaries & lamps manufacturers for integration.

Description

Taking into account the needs of the lighting sector concerning to space problems, a Southern Spanish SME, very active in the area of lighting monitoring, has developed a novel technology that unifies the dimmers and the remote controllers in a single solution that can be integrated into a lamp.

This technology can monitor and control luminaries in a remote and autonomous way to improve their energy efficiency and consumption. It integrates wireless communication technologies to make possible these features.

This development includes several protections to extend useful life of the driver and luminary:

- Protection against hazard circuits, opened circuit and over tension. In case of led error, the driver automatically disconnects.
- Protection against over-heating.
- Driver auto-disconnect if ambient temperature is over 55 ºC.

Functionalities and features can be customised according to customer requirements.

Communications interface shows the following activation levels:

1. Driver led can work in non-remote monitoring way.
2. Linked to pre-programmed elements. Autonomous system.
3. Cloud solutions. It can be controlled the system and measures.
4. CMS (Control Management System): total control, measurement, interoperability.

This technology complies with the following security standards:

UNE-EN 61347-2-13 (devices for lamp control. Particular requirements)
UNE-EN 61347-1 (devices for lamp control. General requirements and security requirements)
UL8750 (Security standard for lighting Systems in USA)
UNE-EN 60950-1 (IT equipments. General requirements)

This technology complies with the following electromagnetic standards EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility
/EMI (Electromagnetic interferences):

UNE-EN 55015; UNE-EN 61000-4-4;
UNE-EN 6 1000-3-2; UNE-EN 61000-4-6;
UNE-EN 61000-3-3; UNE-EN 61000-4-8;
UNE-EN 61000-4-2; UNE-EN 61547
UNE-EN 61000-4-3; UNE-EN 61000-4-11

This technology can be used for energy efficiency projects of public & street lighting, construction, civil engineering, airports, parkings facilities, Industrial facilities. ports, Smart Cities.

The Spanish SME is interested in getting in contact with lamps & luminaries manufacturers for commercial agreements with technical assistance in terms of integration of the technology into their lamps/luminaries. Technical support related to sensor / communications will be provided by the Spanish SME.

Advantages and Innovations

Advantages
* This new product solves different needs concerning to the space in luminaries and also about the lighting control.
* It is connected to the loop and is controlled by a digital signal 1-10V that is also used to power the driver.
* Compact design and electric features so it can be integrated in most of the existing luminaries.

Innovations
* The driver for LED and the remote control already exist, but the unification of both products in a single box is a novel concept.

* This development provides an integrative solution that allows lamp manufacturer to offer a complete product with remote control (On, Off and dimming) integrated.

* The communication between each lamp is made by radio frequency and customers could control each lamp with a cloud solution or with software installed in a physical computer.
