Description

Czech university has developed an unique measuring spectrophotometer system not only for analyzing of photo chromic change but also for measuring color transition which identifies environmental dangerous condition. 

The external stimuli can be changes in temperature, humidity, pH environment (pH is a measure of the hydorgen ion concentration of a solution. Solutions with a high concentration of hydrogen ions have a low pH and solutions with a low concentrations of H+ ions have a high pH. This may seem like a confusion way to express these reationships, and it is, until you understand what pH stands for), the concentration of hazardous substances, etc. Measurements and acquisition of experimental data can be realized in remission and transmission mode. The spectral and kinetic colorimetric data in both the polychromatic light exposure and in the monochrome mode can be used.

The measurement principle is based on the bispectral measurement system, when the excitation and the measuring beam are inserted two monochromators. The LED-based light (LED = Light Emmission Diode) source allows the continuous and pulse excitation of functional photochromic dyes with color change. The spectral range of the system is sufficiently derived from applications and typically is set to range from 420 to 700 nm with band pass of the measured zone of 0.5 nm. Basic dynamic range of the system is 0-200 % R, respectively % T. Short-term repeatability is less than 0.03 ΔE in CIELAB colorimetric system on a white ceramic tile CCS II (CIELAB is the second of two systems adopted by CIE in 1976 as models that better showed uniform color spacing in their values. CIELAB is an opponent color system based on the earlier (1942) system of Richard Hunter called L, a, b., CIE = International Commission on Illumination) (CCS = Ceramic Colour Standards)The diffused measuring geometry uses an angle of 0 ° and integrator diameter of the 152 mm. Standard size aperture hole is 27 mm. Operating conditions is in between 5-40 °C (C = Celsius), relative humidity range 5-85%.

The main application area of the novel device is the production of simple sensing applications allowing the visual indication of external stimuli. Today, no measuring equipment for these product types is available to allow the calibration of relevant sensors and their cyclic stress through the relevant stimulus. The device may be advantageously applied also for standard quality control of product containing functional dyes as indicators of changes in environmental conditions, as well as dyes and pigments.

The university seeks partners for commercial agreement with technical assistance.

UV = Ultraviolet Radiation is simply one form of energy coming from the sun. Even though you may have only just started hearing about UV and the effects it has on you, it is nothing new. In fact, UV is as old as the earth itself.

- has integrated system of temperature control for observing color effect due to isothermal and non-isothermal kinetics. Today, no measuring equipment for these product types is available to allow the calibration of relevant sensors and their cyclic stress through the relevant stimulus.

- may be advantageously applied also for standard quality control of product containing both functional dyes as indicators of changes in environmental conditions, as well as dyes and pigments used in current production.
