Summary

Czech research team has patented technology which allows activate and modify the surface properties of textile products by using action of electric plasma. The technology can be operated in-line in ambient at speeds up to 600 m/min.; the process is simple, continuous, cost effective, fast. The technology is environmentally friendly and safe for human body. 
The research group is looking for both companies and research teams for further development and commercialization of the technology.

Description

Czech research group has patented technology which can activate and modify (hydrofobization, hydrofilization, etc.) the surface properties of the textile products by an in-line electric plasma processing. The technology can be used with benefit at atmospheric pressure in ambient air, so no vacuum and expensive plasma gases are needed. Thus the process can be simple, continuous, cost effective (no vacuum pumps and low electricity consumption) and fast (tested at speeds up to 600m/min).
Further, it is not necessary to use expensive chemicals or gases; an simple ordinary air can be used. Other gases can be used if needed.
The technology can be used for textile surface activation before textile dying (e.g. hydrofilization of polypropylene) or in manufacturing process of water repelent textiles (hydrofobization) or for surface activation before grafting of useful compounds for wound healing in medicine, enzyme imobilization in biotechnology, treatment of antimicrobial activity, etc.
Plasma generated in this way is also safe in contact with human body. Technology is suitable for high volume continuous textile productions with high pressure on cost of surface modification.
The research group has been used for flexible cooperation with industrial partners as well as with other research teams for many years.
The research group is looking for both companies and research teams for further development (e.g. modification to the specific needs) and commercialization of the technology (licence or commercial agreement, etc.).
