Summary

A Korean company specialised in high precision proceeding technology is looking for a partner for a German-Korean joint R&D project. The main goal is to develop loading/unloading collaborative robot, aiming at handling atypical and handle-with-care freights. Thus, a German company specialised in high-speed auto-array distributor and conveyor control system could be a potential partner for the project. The deadline for proposal submission is 30 October 2020.

Description

Since established in 1983, the Korean company specialised in high precision processing technology is engaged with both defence/commercial industry and manufactures/produces system cabinets, consoles for defence business as well as the main components of chip surface mounter (head, nozzle, conveyor) and collaborative robot (for factory use).

The company is currently looking for an R&D partner in Germany specialised in high-speed auto-array distributor and conveyor control system for a German-Korean joint R&D project of developing loading and unloading collaborative robot.

This project is to develop robot technology, capable of alleviating labour and possibly increasing productivity under narrow space in order to reduce process time to 800 cases/ 30 min (1 person with robot). This collaborative robot also recognises and pick-move-load atypical freights under low level of illumination (auxiliary support during labour work).

In order to implement these features above, this Korean company will integrate its current technology (anchor robot, collaborative) to develop a robot arm, which can pick, move, load(unload) freights. It will also contain gripper to grip freights, multiple axis for free movement and sensor system to recognize labels and dangerous freights under low level of illumination. Additionally, the robot will include a high-speed auto-array distributing technology and conveyor technology from potential partner in Germany.

For recognition of freight, label and caution marking on cases, CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) technology will be utilised. Along with CNN, DWS (Dimensioning Weighing Scanning) method will be adopted to add the function for sorting out freights by weight and box sizes.
In order to verify the possibility of commercialisation, the collaborative robot will be demonstrated and tested in the logistics centre whose environment is identical to where the robot will be installed for commercial use. The robot will be operated under network, which allows for wireless control of multiple robots, with a single controller.

Here is the expertise of possible partners for the project in detail.
- High-speed auto-array distribution
* algorithm for freight control based on vision sensor data
* recognition of multi-locations of freights
* control system for array, (Hardware/Software)

- Conveyor control system
* control process
* controller

As the Korean company wishes to submit the project proposal to the German-Korean joint R&D project on 30 October 2020, they intend to close the issuance of EOI (expression of interest) for partner search on 15 October 2020.

Advantages and Innovations

-	This collaborate robot is able to create jobs in the logistics industry where it is tough on women and the elderly.
- This collaborate robot is able to load and unload freights simultaneously and control handle-with-care- freights.
- The company with cold chain (temperature-controlled supply chain) can continue the entire logistics cycle for 24hours.
