Summary

A Greek SME is seeking partners in Norway and/or Iceland to join a proposal it is preparing to submit to the Business Innovation Greece funding programme. The project aims to apply specialised information technologies to industries and organisations operating in various fields of the blue economy such as marine exploration, oil and gas extraction, and environmental monitoring.

Description

This is a dynamic Greek micro enterprise founded by a senior innovation management professional. The company has 20 years of ICT expertise and knowledge through its involvement in more than 30 research, development and innovation projects funded by the European Union covering a range of fields from 3D graphics and robotics to real-world applications of Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies in virtual surgery. 

The company specializes in developing Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies for the visualization and analysis of spatial data. The company is a member of the Copernicus Ecosystem. Copernicus, which was previously known as Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES), is the European Programme for the establishment of a European capacity for earth observation.

The specific idea of the proposal is to apply Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies in situ for industries and other organizations which are operating in the fields of blue growth, sea exploration, oil and gas, environmental monitoring etc.

The project will include at least:-
- automatic visualization of spatial data in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR) formats
- custom applications for delivering and viewing the data in-situ using cloud technologies and AR/MR smart glasses
- development of a business deployment model together with the Norwegian or Icelandic partners in collaboration with selected clients.

Requested partner

Ideally the Greek client is looking for an SME or a research centre from Norway or Iceland with experience in ICT or consulting service provision for large industries and organizations, if possible in one or more of the following domains: environmental data collection; processing and big data analytics; sensors; Internet of Things; earth observation. 
The partner will be expected to co-develop pilot applications and apply the various technologies (Augmented, Virtual, ad Mixed Reality) in real situations.
Depending on the capacity of the partner, flexible co-operation scenarios can be proposed, both in technology, marketing and financing.
The partner will have full access to the technology platform (Augmented, Virtual, and Mixed Reality for environmental and spatial data) that will be used as the main ICT tool for the pilot deployment.
