Η2020 LC-EEB-03-2019: Public or private building sought for pilot demonstration in Sweden, Norway, Finland or Iceland.

Country of Origin: Greece
Reference Number: RDGR20190116001
Publication Date: 16 January 2019

Summary

A Greek R&D Institution is currently working on preparing a proposal under the H2020 topic LC-EEB-03-2019 that deals with developments and new designs for energy positive buildings. The Institution is looking for an additional demo site (private or public building) in Sweden, Norway, Finland or Iceland to cover the four main climatic zones of Europe.

Description

The Greek Institution is one of the leading Institutions of Greece in the fields of informatics, telematics and telecommunications, with long experience in R&D projects as it has participated in numerous research projects funded by the European Commission and many research projects funded by Greek national research programmes and consulting subcontracts with the private sector.

The project aims towards the transition of buildings into the energy positive houses, targeting maximum renewable energy sources market uptake and CO2 emissions reductions at minimum costs producing more energy than consuming throughout the year and on daily – or even on an hourly – basis. The project will define a generic climatic-independent design framework for positive energy buildings (PEB), through highly affordable, attractive, minimum disruptive and efficient building transformations, installations and renovations.

The key element of the project is a plug-n-play, adaptive/modular double-skin (AMDS) solution regarding a part or the whole of the existing building with modular and pre-fabricated external shell, enabling:

• The affordable, low-invasive and plug-n-play deep renovation of the building – required for transforming it into an efficient PEB – while overcoming many of the space, regulatory, architectural and aesthetical limitations.

• The plug-n-play, modular and affordable/low-invasive deployment, not just for conventional renewable energy generation and storage systems, but also of the best available, cutting-edge, both active and passive energy generation and storage technologies (incorporating smart insulation and energy materials) removing to a big extend the space and regulatory limitation problems and having neutral or even positive effect on the building aesthetics.

• The plug-n-play, modular and affordable/low-invasive “enhancement” of the building energetic/comfort characteristics by embedding within the AMDS ventilation and lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), solar protection and shading, green wall and vegetation which can significantly improve the building comfort characteristics and may also increase the exterior or semi-exterior spaces resulting in a key added value.

At the moment the Greek Institution has already allocated three demo sites and is looking for an additional one from a North European country (Sweden, Norway, Finland or Iceland) in order to cover the four climatic zones for Europe. The collaboration offered is research cooperation agreement.

Requested partner

The R&D Institution seeks a demo site in one of the following North European countries:

• Sweden
• Norway
• Finland
• Iceland

in order to cover the four main climatic zones of Europe.

The demo site must be a public or private building.

The Greek Institution is looking for any social housing company that owns the building or a partner (regardless type and size) who could bring a pilot building in one of the above countries.

Role: Pilot demonstration and evaluation of the proposed solution.

The requested type of collaboration is a research cooperation agreement.
