Country of Origin: Spain
Reference Number: RDES20200709001
Publication Date: 28 July 2020

Summary

A Basque (north of Spain) SME with experience in developing solutions for the digitalization of medical processes is currently working on a product directly related to the results yielded by COVID-19 tests and stored in a mobile app. The company wants to submit a Eurostars proposal and is looking for a partner for further development of the medical application under a research type of cooperation. The ideal partner could be a hospital, a clinic or a laboratory.

Description

Over the last months, people’s way of living has changed drastically due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, stricter protection measures have had to be taken and maintained, such as social distancing and wearing face masks. However, to avoid the fear of contracting the virus, it could be really helpful to take our COVID-19 test results with us on our mobile phones.

A Spanish SME, formed by doctors and software and business developers who are engaged in solutions for the digitalization of medical processes, is preparing a Eurostars proposal. This new healthcare app is being developed so that authorities can have access to reliable information about the actual viral situation of a person when it is required in places such as train stations, airports or hospitals. This way, instead of having to go through the pain of taking the temperature to every single passenger/user, each passenger/user would have information on his or her actual viral situation on its mobile phone ready to be shared with the authorities.
The company’s expertise lies in the development of tools to follow up patients telematically. Their brand product is the digitalization of consent, where they help the patient understand the whole process through visual technology and animated videos.
The SME is looking for a partner that may help them to develop the "Covid-19 passport". The company is specifically interested in field testing environment where the new product can be tested and improved. The prospective partner would either be a hospital, elderly care centre, a clinic or a laboratory.

Eurostars is a joint programme between EUREKA and the European Commission through Horizon 2020. Eurostars supports R&D-performing SMEs, which develop innovative products, processes and services, to gain competitive advantage.
