H2020-ICT-46-2020: Clinical partners (hospitals, nursing home) with the need of transporting patients or hospital supplies from one room to another within the hospital/nursing home

Country of Origin: Spain
Reference Number: RDES20200213001
Publication Date: 13 February 2020

Summary

A Spanish SME specialised in ICT solutions and with wide experience in the coordination of European projects is looking for a clinical partner (outside Spain and Italy) to participate in a proposal to the call H2020-ICT-46-2020 on robotics in the clinical environment. The project aims to develop an innovative robotic platform for the intra-hospital transport of patients. Key activities will include the definition of the requirements and testing activities, in a controlled environment.

Description

The project TransBot aims to develop an innovative robotic platform able to perform the perception, understanding, manipulation and navigation tasks in complex and crowded environments, supported by a natural Human-Robot Interaction with all actors involved (e.g., nurses) in the intra-hospital transport of non-ICU (Intensive Care Unit) patients by improvement of these technologies over the current state of the art. These advances will ensure both safety and mitigation of adverse impacts, including those due to human factor error (e.g., delays, falls, treatment interruption), as well as allowing a correct planning and execution of this assistive clinical process, while reducing workload of clinical staff.
Framework programme conditions: Research and Innovation action, single-stage evaluation.
Call deadline: April 22nd.
Deadline for expressions of interest: March 23rd.
The partners sought are end users - Clinical partners (hospitals, nursing homes) with the need of transport patients or hospital supplies from a room to another within the hospital/nursing home.

Advantages and Innovations

TransBot aims to perform an improvement in technical capability in AI, cognition and cognitive mechatronic over the current state of the art RAS (Remote Access Service) technologies. These advances crystallize in an innovative robotic platform which is able to perform the perception, understanding, manipulation and navigation in complex and crowded environments, supported by an intuitive (or natural) Human-Robot Interaction (including social navigation) with all involved actors involved (e.g., nurses) in the intrahospital transport of non-ICU patients. These advances will ensure safety and mitigate adverse impacts in patients, including those due to human factor error (e.g., delays, falls and treatment interruption). Additionally, TransBot allows a correct planning and execution of this assistive clinical process, while reducing workload of clinical staff, and ensuring that advances in the above technologies cover a broad spectrum of applications beyond the health sector, such as agri-food, agile production and infrastructure inspection and maintenance.
