Summary

A Spanish technological centre is preparing a project proposal for NMBP-31-2020 related with the development and improvement of materials for offshore wind energy generation and tidal power generation including advances in materials and functional coatings aiming to reduce capital, running and maintenance costs. The sought partners should be companies operating offshore platforms or companies involved in the construction and production of materials for offshore wind and tidal energy generation.

Description

A Spanish company, a non-profit private centre, has a large trajectory in international cooperation. The centre has coordinated 19 out of the 35 European projects in which they have been involved from FP6 to Horizon 2020 including LIFE and ECO-Innovation programs. The main RTD fields where the company develops its activities are nanotechnology, new materials and advanced-environment technologies.



One of the core businesses of the centre is the production of functional nanobased coatings working with industrial companies providing solutions for corrosion protection, high temperature protection, antifouling, antistick, superhydrophobic properties for anti-ice and/or self-cleaning surfaces for different substrates. In this way, based on the knowledge and available technology in the centre, as well as the commercial and business-oriented activities of the company, the centre is preparing a project proposal to the call LC-NMBP-31-2020. The project aims to solve materials problems in offshore wind and tidal power generation based on specific needs of the industry. In addition, to functional coatings, the project is also open to the improvement of substrate materials including polymer composites and metallic components/alloys. The project will address both improvements of materials for the generators and for structural components (floating or bottom fixed structures). The project will be focused in improvements that directly represent a considerable decrease in costs (capital expenses, running costs and maintenance) and the improvements on manufacturing processes is also an aspect to consider.



The technological centre is looking for partners providing the following expertise:



- Profile 1: Companies working on offshore operations, including offshore platforms construction/operation/maintenance with specific needs in terms of materials.



- Profile 2: Companies working in production of components and materials for offshore wind and/or tidal power generation with specific requirements.



- Profile 3: Experts in offshore wind and/or tidal energy generation.
