Summary

A Dutch globally active producer of coatings, paints and specialty chemicals aims at reducing their environmental footprint across the value chain. The company is looking for a toolbox of technologies that can reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD) and high salt concentration in both water treatment and water recycling  in order to establish effluent-free chemical sites. Cooperation with partners would be in the frame of a research cooperation agreement or a technical cooperation agreement.

The Dutch company is a leading global paints and coatings company and major producer of specialty chemicals.
It is without any doubt that these production processes are a burden for the environment and especially that of clean water. It is for that reason that the company propagates and strongly keeps an ambitious sustainability agenda, which is crucial for the future success of the company, the society and the planet.
The company’s sustainability strategy is supported by three pillars:

3. Resource efficiency - reducing the environmental footprint across the value chain and increasing the use of renewable materials to create more value from fewer resources.
Regarding to the resource efficiency, the recycling and the removal the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and high salt concentration in water treatment is eminent. The corporate responsibility towards the quality of water will increasingly become a critical driver of their business success and growth and it is envisioned by the company to manufacture their products without wastewater in 5 years. When successful, they could make a significant contribution to a more sustainable world.
In order to fulfil this need the company is looking for effective and creative solutions to reduce COD and high salt concentration in both water treatment and water recycling on site. The company is aware of the fact that they are only able to solve this problem by working together. In collaboration the company would like to purchase a variety of technologies and create an effective toolbox of solutions to help eliminate wastewater.
Cooperation is sought with partners skilled to reduce COD and high salt concentration in both water treatment and water recycling in the frame of a research- or a technical cooperation agreement.
