Separate partners may be found for feasibility study/prototype development and full-scale model development/ implementation in the process chain. Description

This Lithuanian dairy company with over two decades of experience in producing high quality milk products is constantly applying newest technologies for their product quality improvement and expanding their competences. The company is interested in development of an alternative biotechnological method for natural sweetener tagatose extraction from acid (sour) whey. 

The company is looking for partners that already have or would develop the alternative tagatose extraction technology from acid whey that would be more efficient than current tagatose extraction technologies and wouldn’t be patent protected. The development of the technology could be split into two stages:
- Idea generation, feasibility study and development of the prototype;
- Development of an industrial model that complies with industrial conditions and requirements and that can be included in the continuous process chain.

The technology may be already existing, providing that it’s not patent protected – in that case partners for implementing the existing technology into the production chain are sought. The dairy company is looking for close cooperation partners that could complete either or both stages described under a technical cooperation agreement.

Expertise sought

The main tasks and requirements for the partner are:
- The developed technology should prove efficiency;
- The technology should not be patent protected;
- To minimise material and time input required for the processing using this technology;
- To gather and analyse data related to economical applications of the technology for the company;
- To ensure a low-risk investment.

Stage Of Development Comment

Any stage of development is acceptable as long as the technology is not patent protected.

Requested partner

The partner may be a private or public research or other institution with expertise in biotechnological methods applied in food technology that already have tagatose extraction technology available for acquisition or are capable of developing one with the support of the dairy company under a technical cooperation agreement. Separate partners may apply for either of tasks:
- Idea generation, feasibility study and development of the prototype;
- Development of an industrial model and its implementation in the process chain.
