Ukrainian complex microbial medication for the protection of plants from pathogens and pests

Summary

The Ukrainian scientific institution has developed a comprehensive biosubstance for the protection of plants against pathogens and pests. It exhibits antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, insecticidal activity and growth stimulating effect. It is used for grain, technical, vegetable crops, in gardening and forest park industry. The scientific institution is interested in cooperation with enterprises specializing in the production of microbial medication in Europe based on a licensing agreement.

Description

Ukrainian research institution conducts research in the field of microbiology, virology and biotechnology. The institution has extensive experience in scientific developments in these fields over the past century.
The question of the cultivation of quality agricultural products to a certain extent is important not only for countries that focus on the development of the agrarian sector but also for private entrepreneurs of small businesses. The use of biomaterials based on strains of bacteria plays a role in solving this issue. Bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas, in particular strains Pseudomonas chlororaphis subsp. Aureofaciens has been used in agriculture for the past decades, but there is a constant search for highly active strains in order to increase the effectiveness of these bio-preparations for plant growing.
Strains of bacteria - the components of the drug synthesize a wide range of biologically active substances, which determine the complex effect and high efficiency of this biosubstance.
The proposed biosubstance was developed in the institute based on two strains of bacteria Pseudomonas chlororaphis subsp. aureofaciens, selected as a result of a large-scale study of a large collection of microorganisms. Antifungal and antibacterial activity of the strains of the drug is due to the synthesis of their antibiotics phenazine and phenylpyrrole series, active against phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria.
Antiviral activity is associated with exopolysaccharides and lipopolysaccharides that synthesize strains.
The insecticidal effect is due to the synthesis of entomopathogenic toxin strains.
The stimulating effect on plant development is due to the formation of numerous growth hormones - auxin, gibberellin, and others.
This medication are used for cereals, technical, vegetable, berry crops, in the forest park industry.
Application is possible for seed treatment, as inoculant, planting material (roots of seedlings), for spraying for vegetation, for harvesting before laying on storage.
It used to protect against pests: carrots, aphids, leaf rollers, bedbugs, cicadas, moths, Colorado beetles, shoots, trops of wheat, zhezelica, pylons, fireflies, ticks; and diseases: root rot, fusariosis, black spots, verticillosis, scales, powdery mildew, septoriosis, peronosporosis, bile marigolds, hard cucumbers, late blight, moniliosis, oidium, mildew, ascochytosis, rust.
It is compatible with chemicals other than mercury- and copper-containing. The drug is safe for bees, animals, humans and the environment.
This medication can fight against pests and pathogens of plant diseases, increase the resistance of plants to stress factors, and ensure the preservation of the crop.
International cooperation is envisaged under the terms of a non-exclusive license. The institute has experience in such cooperation with domestic and foreign enterprises. Collaboration through licensing agreements is the most acceptable for the institute because it does not have large-scale production capacities to create its own production line. The institute expects to find industrial enterprises specializing in the production of microbial drugs that can introduce licensed biotechnology into production.
Under the license agreement strains of bacteria, scientific and technical documentation, technology of obtaining the medication are given, scientific consultations are provided.

Advantages and Innovations

The medication differs from numerous analogues — monopreparations based on the strains P.chlororaphys and Sedomon, in that it consists of two unique strains of bacteria that complement and amplify each other. It has been established that both strains-components exhibit antifungal, antibacterial and entomopathogenic properties, but one of them is characterized by a higher antifungal and antibacterial activity, and the second is entomocidal activity. The combination of these bacteria provides a broad antimicrobial action of the drug, insecticidal effect, promotes growth and development of plants.

Results of application of medication:
- reduction of fungal diseases of plants by 94 - 96%;
- reduction of bacterial diseases by 70%;
- virus by 27 - 30%;
- increase of drought resistance by 30 - 50%;
- high insecticidal effect, as an example: it destroys 94% of larvae of apple-tree carrot;
- softening of the stress factor from drought, burns by chemical means.
