Description

The technology was developed in Ukrainian academic research center, which was established in 1960 and is a part of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences

The dressing represents an activated carbon fiber material with expanded sorbtion surface and unique sorption-kinetic characteristics, which provides rapid adsorption of a large quantity (up to 1.5 g per 1g of weight of the carbon material) of various biologically active components from the wound content, including the products of protein catabolism and proteolysis, bacterial endotoxins, biogenic amines and mediators of inflammation. This leads to the attenuation of the intensity of local vascular and inflammatory reactions. Haemostatic properties of carbon fiber material due to its specific surface help reduce the duration of bleeding 2-4 times, and the volume of blood loss 1.5-2 times. Our dressing blocks local sources of intoxication and prevents the wound reinfection. Our dressing is successfully used in surgery and combustiology ( in hospital settings and at home). It is designed for application-sorption therapy of wounds and burns, trophic ulcers, decubitus lcers, and erosive lesions of mucous membrane in the nasal cavity, mouth, vagina, as well as for the prevention and treatment of wound infection and for temporal immobilization of biologically active compounds such as proteolytic enzymes and antiseptics.
Today there is a progressive growth of burns of incomplete depth (II-III degree), most of which can be treated ambulatoryly or at home. The use of Adsorptive carbon dressing in the first hours after a thermal trauma of II-III degree inhibits the further development of local manifestations of burn disease, quickly relieves pain, contributes to the preservation of the basal part of the epithelial layer of the skin and 1.5-1.7 times accelerates the healing process of the wound. Particularly relevant is the use of a bandage for pre-hospital treatment of infant burn injuries and in emergencies (in the form of equipment for emergency rescue teams).

Ukrainian R&D center is looking for SME or larger industrial partner able to full-scale manufacturing of our dressing for international market based on license agreement or manufacturing agreement, and partners - universities for development of the new advanced modifications of the dressing based on research cooperation agreement.

Advantages and Innovations

High adsorption activity of dressing, due to large pore surface area of fibrous carbon materials (1800-2400 m2/g), provides rapid adsorption of wound toxic products, bacterial toxins and microbial cells. Adsorptive capacity of dressing  is 1.5-3 times higher than of the best existing international analogues. It allows to shorten the wound healing time up to 1,5-1,7 times comparing with rival products. Different collaboration options including license agreement, manufacturing agreement, research cooperation agreement are available depending on the partners' expertise. License agreements will be considered with partners who wish to use the technology in their own applications. Manufacturing agreements will be considered with partners who will agree for production of the adsorptive dressing.
