A Dutch company specialized in water-free dyeing with supercritical CO2 is looking for manufacturers in the textile industry

Country of Origin: Netherlands
Reference Number: TONL20200325001
Publication Date: 27 March 2020

Summary

The Dutch company has developed a process for textile dyeing utilizing supercritical CO2 and offers a water-free and process-chemical free dyeing system for polyester textiles. The closed loop dyeing system needs less energy compared to others and is cost effective. To support the transition of the textile dyeing industry to a circular economy, the company is looking for interested brands and manufacturers in the textile industry. A commercial agreement with technical assistance is foreseen.

Description

The world of textiles is changing. The demands for more sustainable, less environmentally demanding production methods are becoming increasingly important - for consumers, retailers, brands and producers. In order to transform and improve this industry, new technologies and new processes are required.

Since 10 years the Dutch company has been inventing, modifying and optimizing the use of carbon dioxide to dye fabrics and more recently also to dye yarns. By utilizing supercritical (Carbon-diOxyde) CO2 in a closed loop dyeing system the process eliminates the use of water in the dyeing process.

The company is the world’s first commercial supplier of a water-free and process-chemical free dyeing system for polyester textiles. Using CO2 dyeing will eliminate the use of water, reduces energy consumption, eliminates chemical usage and is cost effective.

The company is offering systems that provide brands and manufacturers the opportunity to decrease water consumption and the use of chemicals significantly: roughly 50 million liters of water and 250 kilograms of chemicals per 1000 ton of production. These savings are scientifically proven and supported with 3rd party verified Life Cycle Analysis data. After 8 years of continuous R&D, the CO2 dyeing process is robust and proven at factory scale production.

Factsheet of the 3-vessel system:
- Capacity of up to 1.500 tons per year
- When ran in an efficient operation, 16-18 batches of up to 200kg (in total 4 tons) can be dyed per day.
- The system is configured for beam-dyeing and fits both knits and wovens
- There is a configuration for dyeing yarn as well (42 bobbins of 4,7kg).

With multiple customers in Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam, the company already installed over 9 million kilos per year of CO2 polyester dyeing capacity. The company is partnering with leading companies in the textile industry. Now they are looking for new partners to increase production capacity of CO2 polyester dyeing and help the transition of the textile dyeing industry towards a circular economy.

A commercial agreement with technical assistance is foreseen.
