A Spanish company offers smart mobility solution to optimize vehicles daily occupancy

Country of Origin: Spain
Reference Number: TOES20181019001
Publication Date: 19 October 2018

A Spanish company aims to organize people daily routes to their duties through digital platforms, where drivers post free seats and passengers book them. Technical cooperation, research cooperation or commercial agreement are sought.

The combined influence of population growth, demographic change and changing urban form leads to increasing demand for travel in city centers, suburbs and between the two. Demand for improved intercity mobility is also growing, to create a faster and more direct connection between settlements. As demand rises, so too do concerns about transportation as one of the leading contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions, congestion, noise and poor air quality in cities.

Due to increased population and demographic changes, there is an increased demand for travel both in and between cities and suburbs. Unfortunately, this growing demand is not met with the corresponding supply of physical transport it needs, resulting in overcrowding and congestion.

The present Spanish SME aims to promote carpooling in cities through a mobile application. Starting in Spain, it aims to expand to more countries, allowing its citizens to save costs, improve the comfort of their journeys and help to reduce congestion and pollution in cities. This way, they can optimize every car's space by increasing the occupancy and then reduce significantly CO2 impact, traffic, and noise pollution.

The Spanish SME is completely committed with the movement of shared-economy and takes real care of their employee’s quality of life. That is the reason why they describe themselves as a new Human Resource's solution that companies can use to increase their employee's pride in belonging, while they are being sustainable towards the environment.

They want citizens to travel comfortable, fast and in a sustainable way. In order for that to happen, they need to count on institutions' involvement (public and private).

Potential partners are entities that are looking for smart mobility solutions under technical cooperation, research cooperation or commercial agreement with technical assistance.

Advantages and Innovations

The SME wants people to travel on other people's car FOR FREE, in those recurring routes/journeys to their jobs/study locations (and back home), due to big Corporations and Public Institutions involvement and collaboration.

Some specific advantages of this service are:
- Reduction of the emissions by 75%.
- Valuation of tax benefits associated with the reduction of emissions.
- Creative and social rewards not only focused on money but in the exchange of services among passenger and driver as described below:

* Between 4000 and 8000 euros per month of cost savings for the companies that use this service under their Social Responsibility Politics.
