Country of Origin: United Kingdom
Reference Number: RDUK20180302001
Publication Date: 12 March 2018

A UK university as part of a European consortium is seeking a Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) or gaming company to join their bid and to provide secondments as part of the knowledge exchange based project. The project aims to develop innovative best-practice protocols and guidelines on Design Thinking Approaches in Technology Industries. They are seeking an SME to take part in an interdisciplinary secondment program for researchers, via a research cooperation agreement.

Many designers have turned their efforts to projects geared toward positive community impact and designing for social change. Design for social change encourages designers to play a catalytic role in communities through community engagement for projects that create positive social impact. Community engagement refers to the process by which a community is actively involved in building a collective solution for its own benefit.

A UK university is part of a project proposal that aims to carry out in-depth research to investigate how novel design thinking methodologies can be introduced in technology industries, so as to inspire and accelerate innovation as well as facilitate the planning and implementation of projects of different scales in the field.

The H2020 bid consortium currently consists of the UK university, a Portuguese web/mobile company, and a Cypriot university.

The project will implement a dense programme of secondments for Experienced Researchers (ERs) and Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) to industry as well as technology experts from industry to academia for the purpose of knowledge exchange and strengthening of international and cross-sectorial collaboration. The project will guide ER and ESRs through the
process of developing the strategic foundations for socially minded, design-driven projects within industrial and academic settings with social impact at their center and equip them with an
understanding of the steps needed to make positive community impact a reality.

They are seeking a European SME working in VR, AR or gaming to primarily offer expertise in industry grade design methodologies, access to real-world scenarios and data, and access to numerous end users through widely deployed products via research cooperation agreement.

The call is H2020-MCSA-RISE-2018 Research and Innovation Staff Exchange and the deadline for submission is 21 March 2018.

The deadline for expressions of interest in this profile is 12 March 2018.
