Description

A Spanish research centre is preparing a proposal for the call: H2020 – Refurbishment and re-manufacturing of large industrial equipment (DT-FoF-06-2019).

The problem to be solved lies on the risk of breakdown of critical large industrial equipment. This may cause a very expensive unexpected stop in the production processes. Fatal errors may cause an extremely expensive replacement before the end of the possible lifespan of the machine.

To successfully address the above needs, the project will focus on two complementary areas: the condition monitoring, fault diagnosis and prognosis and the impact of refurbishment on large electrical machinery.

The project objective is the development, testing, demonstration and market uptake of an innovative solution for extending the lifespan of large industrial equipment at least a 20%, increasing the return on investment from major machinery. This will be achieved through a combination of condition monitoring intelligence enabling fault diagnosis and prognosis, and refurbishment on large industrial equipment.

The partner sought is a (big, European) industry that uses large industrial equipment, namely from the chemical, petrochemical, machinery, paper, pulp, food, metal, textile, electric power generation, water or cement sector. Their role is piloting the proposed solution: an integrated condition monitoring system based on non-invasive sensors and software capable of predicting errors and smartly plan for necessary refurbishments, reducing dramatically unexpected production stops and enlarging the lifespan of this equipment before full replacement. This translates into important savings for industries. Against current state-of-the-art solutions, EULIE will integrate currently fragmented diagnosis techniques and a non-invasive set-up minimizing impact on industrial processes. Moreover, a part of necessary refurbishment costs might be included in the project budget.

The consortium is almost complete, and it includes different profiles: large industrial equipment manufacturers, owners, repair workshops, digitalization companies, knowledge centres and European networks are already confirmed.
