A Dutch SME has developed a patented on-line microchip capillary electrophoresis (CE) analysis instrument working in a highly autonomous way for measurement, calibration and monitoring. Operation of the system requires no special direct care from an operator except for the occasional fluid replenishment and change. Analysis time of multiple anion components is very short. A partnership is sought for commercial agreement with technical assistance.

This patented solution integrates industrial stand-alone operation and microchip CE technology. Microchip capillary electrophoresis Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is a very generic tool for separation and measurement of all kinds of organic and inorganic ions. In CE, a sample is separated into its components as it migrates through a glass capillary under the driving force of a strong electrical field. Capillaries in conventional CE measure up to 50 cm or even longer. Microchip CE, a miniaturized form of CE, offers unique possibilities for separation of charged analytes as the high separation efficiency of CE can be combined with the flexibility of chip design and the speed of miniaturized separation. Furthermore, microchip CE offers much better possibilities for integration of extra functionalities resulting in lab-on-a-chip type CE devices.
